Wow wow wow!!! Wish I could clap more for this. I thought at first you might be going in the direction to show that the findings of Milgram and the SPE probably weren’t caused by ‘true’ human nature but by fear and pain, but seeing they were actually fake puts it all into perspective.

Have you read Dr. Gabor Maté’s work on trauma? I think In The Realm Of Hungry Ghosts accurately shows the root of all so-called ‘evil’ in the world. It’s pain. When we’re hurting and feel powerless to stop it, can’t even look at what is hurting, we resort to seeing the ‘evil’ — our fear of confronting the pain — in others, and then inflicting the same pain upon them. Being mean is really pure logic, if you look at it like that.

Doing ‘evil’ is learned behavior, and it’s passed down generation by generation.

Being ‘good’ is innate.

If there ever was a person brought up by 100% emotionally healthy and resilient individuals, they might be able to preserve all of their goodness until adulthood. I really hope the world is slowly waking up to this way of thinking, you can see the beginnings almost everywhere.
